Tis the Season

Wow, the Lynch family got sucked into the holidays and the blogging got put on the back burner. I'm alright with that...more time to enjoy the holidays with family!
Let's see...where to start.
Tis the season to be jolly...blessed, thankful and anticipating the birth of our lord jesus christ. This year we started a few traditions for our family. One of those was having a jesse tree in our home. I found out about this cool tradition through my MOMS group at church. There is daily scripture reading through and an ornament that is matched to the reading. You do it the whole month of december and follow the lineage prior to jesus' birth. Clara really looked forward to the reading each night and putting the ornament on the tree. It was a great way to keep the true meaning of christmas in our home. Here is the link for the printable ornaments we used.

Another Lynch family tradition is to go to Millbrook Tree Farm in Yorktown, IN to pick out the perfect christmas tree. We were blessed with a beautiful snow the day we went and it truly felt like christmas! Elias was a little cold during the adventure, but Clara really got into finding the perfect tree. Well, that is when she wasn't side tracked and throwing snow balls! :) :)
Once setting up the perfect tree in our home, Clara helped decorate. She once again LOVED this part of christmas! She definitely had her favorite ornaments this year and they had to be in front! If they got moved she knew it! Mommy did have to adjust a few ornaments because our tree seemed to only be decorated from clara's reach down and a little bare on top.

We discovered this year that we must transition to all shatterproof ornaments. The little guy was definitely into clanking all the 'balls' together. He did fairly well with the tree until he was using it to help him stand up. I saw the tree sway a few times, which was scary!
Another family tradition we started last year was taking a day to enjoy the holidays and bake some sweet treats. My mom came up and we all spent the day making lots of goodies! Oh how I love all the yummy sweets at christmas!

Lastly, the week before christmas it was time to go see good ole santa clause! I think Clara was excited and nervous to go see the big man. We waited in line outside in the frigid weather to see the jolly ole man. Once we got into santa's house, Clara told him that she wanted biscuit the dog, a tea set and then mentioned he could surprise her with anything else! :) She also told him that her brother would like a truck! Elias just stared at him with a look on his face like, 'who are you?!' :) :)
We loved seeing Clara's spirit for christmas and santa come out this year. It brought back those giddy feelings I had as a child waiting for christmas day to come!
